Recommended browsers

  • Firefox 2.0 or higher
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

Notes:

  1. We strongly recommend you use the Firefox browser, which may be downloaded from http://www.mozilla.com/
  2. If you use Internet Explorer 6.0 or 7.0 we suggest that you set your privacy options. To do this go to: Tools > Internet Options > Privacy .. click SITES (half way down the page).
  3. In the address of the website box add: https//idp.londonexternal.ac.uk and click Allow on the right.

Logging in

1 On the Portal home pages select the tab to access the Online Library. This takes you to your Online Library course gateway. Select databases from the resources box.

2. Select JSTOR from the list of databases available .

3. This takes you to the JSTOR home page. In top right corner select Login, as shown below.

4. Under Login via an institution there are three options to locate your institution:

  • Select Show more to view the full list of UK institutions,
  • Search by name (University of London International Programmes (External System),
  • Search by country. Choose United Kingdom and click search to view the full list of UK institutions.

5. Select your institution: University of London International Programmes (External System) and click login.

6. In the next screen, enter your portal username (UID) and your password and click Login.

7. A screen saying 'Shibboleth Authentication Request Processed' will flash past and you will be taken to the Jstor homepage.

8. You may now Search or Browse the database, although you will notice that there is still a 'login' option in the top right corner.

TOP TIP Select 'login' in the top right to register and set your own personal JSTOR account. By registering you can save your searches, and citations.
