Access to the Library
Entrance to the Library is via the South Block of Senate House. The lifts and stairs are located opposite the University of London reception desk and provide access to the Library, on the 4th floor. Please note, the main lifts provide access up to the 4th floor only and may stop at the 3rd floor before 09.00. Readers are able to browse collections on the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th floors of Senate House Library. To visit the upper floors it is necessary to enter the Library by scanning your card at the security gates and walking through. For membership enquiries please visit the Membership Desk, 4th Floor, South Block. The drop box is located on the ground floor South Block of Senate House.

Accessing Collections within the Library
Lift access is available between the 4th (Convocation Hall), 5th and 6th floors. Please ask staff at the Enquiries Desk if you require lift access to the 7th floor and we will be happy to take you up. A phone is located on the 7th floor to speak to staff and to call the lift to return back down. To operate the phone, simply lift the handset and press the top button to automatically ring down to the Enquiries Desk.
Access via stairs is also available:
- In the Membership Hall (adjacent to the Membership desk)
- Opposite the Circulation Desk
- At the near end of Middlesex North Reading Room (to the 5th floor only)
- At the near end of Middlesex South Reading Room (to the 5th floor only)
- From the Periodicals Room (to the 5th floor only)
