Regulations for the use of the Reading Room

In addition to the current Regulations for the use of Senate House Library, users are requested to read and observe the following

1. Please leave all bags and coats in the lockers provided.  On departure, please empty your locker and return the key to the member of staff at the Special Collections enquiry desk.  Personal property must not be left overnight in lockers or in the Special Collections Reading Room

2. When signing in, please provide your full name, affiliation and tick the collection
you are consulting.

3. Please read books on the rests provided, using chains to minimise the need to touch
the volumes, and consult archival and manuscript material in line with Special
Collections staff guidance. Pencils only may be used.

4. You are responsible for all materials issued to you for consultation until you return
those materials to a member of Special Collections staff.

5. All copying, for which the permission of Special Collections staff is necessary, will
be undertaken by staff in the Photocopying Office. Digital cameras, mobile
telephone, scanners or other copying devices may not be used.

6. Eating and drinking, including consumption of water, is not permitted.
