Fire and Security Information
In the event of a fire
It is the responsibility of all Library users to immediately leave the building by the nearest exit when an alarm is sounded or a member of staff asks them to leave. Staff will ask users to leave by the nearest exit.
Disabled users, unable to use the stairs, should make their way to the nearest Rescue Point. Staff will will inform the Emergency Services of your presence and the Emergency Services will evacuate you upon entering the building. In the case of a fire drill, staff will re-enter the building to inform you that the building is safe
What you should do
- Sound the Alarm
- Leave the building via the nearest route
- Report immediately to the fire assembly point at Malet Street Gardens
- Do not use the lifts
- Do not return to the building for any reason until authorised to do so

The image below shows an Emergency Door Release unit. Use this for emergency evacuation of the building only. Press in the middle of the glass to open the door. The glass will break easily.
