Terms and Conditions applicable to the supply of loans and copies to other libraries

For the purposes of these terms and conditions:
"We" and "Us" refers to Senate House Library, University of London
"You" and "Your" refers to any library that requests a loan or copy from Senate House Library through the Interlibrary Loan service
1. Charges and payment
1.1 Supply of loans and copies are subject to the charges advertised on our website at the time the request is made, or as otherwise agreed by You in writing (including email)
1.2 Libraries in the UK and Republic of Ireland should supply a British Library account number and local request number for retrospective billing via the British Library
1.3 Overseas libraries can by IFLA vouchers, in which case payment is due no later than the date the item is returned (in case of a loan) or within 30 days of receipt (in case of a copy)
1.4 We reserve the right to levy a replacement charge of £50 for loaned items not returned to and received by Us within 32 days of the due date, in accordance with 2.1
2. Loans
2.1 Items loaned to You must be returned to and received by Us by the due date; the due date will be indicated on documentation accompanying loaned items when they are supplied; the due date may be subsequently modified in writing (including email) by Us if You subsequently request an extension and this is granted
2.2 Extensions to the loan period must be requested by email to shl.document.supply@london.ac.uk in advance of the due date
2.3 You are responsible for items loaned to You by Us from the point they are received by You until such time as they are received by Us; a replacement charge of £50 per item will be payable by You in the event of lost items
2.4 We reserve the right to impose conditions on loans and You are responsible for adhering to such conditions and ensuring that end-users likewise adhere to these conditions
2.5 Whilst most items are loaned for home use, We reserve the right to loan items for library use only in certain circumstances; You should indicate in the request if home use is essential, otherwise We will assume library use only is acceptable and supply the item without further confirmation
3. Copies
3.1 Where possible, the primary means of delivery shall be web delivery, unless:
3.1.1 You specify otherwise at the time of the request; or
3.1.2 We are unable to provide web delivery at the time of your request
3.2 Copies are supplied in accordance with UK and EU copyright law. On submitting a request for a copy to Us, it is assumed that the relevant terms of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (UK) will be complied with by You, including but not limited to the conditions that You:
3.2.1 Have obtained a signed declaration form by the end-user requesting the copy. This declaration must be substantially in accordance with that prescribed by the The Copyright (Librarians and Archivists) (Copying of Copyright Material) Regulations 1989 (UK)(SI1212);
3.2.2
Will retain this form until the end of the calendar year of the request plus an additional 6 years;
3.2.3 Will make this form available to Us if so required
3.3 If You are supplied with a copy via web-delivery, no dissemination or reproduction of the copy is permitted except for the making of a single printed copy for the signatory of the copyright declaration as specified in 3.2
