Senate House Library move to South Block delayed
Now expected to begin in August
At its meeting on 23 June, the Senate House Project Board reluctantly took the decision to delay the start of the moves back into the South Block of Senate House. This is because the extensive programme of works to refurbish the building have not yet been fully completed. The moves, which had been scheduled for July 2009, are now expected to begin in August.
The Chair and members of the Board discussed the situation at length with University Senior Managers and Migration Managers. The meeting offered the opportunity to explain fully the intricacies of the situation and to establish the best way to achieve a satisfactory outcome in the circumstances. Migration Managers will continue to work with the Project Team to ensure the move runs as smoothly as possible.
The situation is regrettable and the Board is aware of the disruption and frustration it will cause staff, students and colleagues from other universities. However, after a thorough investigation of all the available options, it was decided that a delay in the moves was the best course of action.
The University is doing everything possible to ensure that all staff are settled in their new locations before the start of the academic year.
