The printed material in the Goldsmiths' Library of Economic Literature was fully catalogued in a major project during 1995 to 2000, thanks to funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). To celebrate the successful completion of this project, an exhibition of treasures from the Library was mounted in the Exhibition Hall. This has now been re-created, to illustrate the riches available to researchers.
As project work progressed, there were constant reminders that matters
which concern us today were in everyone's thoughts during past centuries.
These include pollution, unemployment and rail travel, as well as decimal
coinage, the Channel Tunnel and even the National lottery. So the theme
which runs through the exhibition is the way in which history repeats
itself - plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. We hope that you enjoy
our selection.
